Madonna was wrong
Most of us will remember the song ‘Material Girl’ by Madonna (can you believe that was 40 years ago?!). In it she sings “…you know that we are living in a material world, and I am a material girl…”
Now we have no problem believing that Madonna is a material girl, however the jury is still out as to whether it’s a material world. Research shows that whilst purchasing material “stuff” does produce a bio-chemical high for most people, it’s very short-lived.
Based on our experience most people actually become less material the older they get.
